Artistic director: Trichy Sankaran

Trichy’s Trio is a unique ensemble, versatile in traditional South Indian and contemporary styles of music. As multi-instrumentalists, the trio creates special repertoire that embraces various musical disciplines. Dr. Trichy Sankaran, artistic director of the Trio, is a world- renowned master of South Indian percussion, composer, and an award-winning scholar of Indian music. Ernie Tollar is a noted wind player whose expertise includes jazz, Indian and several other types of world music. Suba Sankaran, a graduate of York University, Toronto, is a freelance pianist, vocalist and percussionist, whose voice speciality ranges from Renaissance to Karnatak to Jazz. Together, the trio makes music that highlights cultural diversity both within Canada and around the world. The trio has performed at major cultural festivals and universities in North America.
